Stan Hernacki began playing trumpet at the age of 9, studying Classical trumpet with Carrol Elkjer, a colleague of Elton Benge. Stan continued his studies with freelance trumpeter Carl Leach of the Stan Kenton Band, and student of Claude Gordon. Eventually Stan would study with Claude Gordon, also.

Stan is a freelance trumpet player who has been fortunate to play with a number of artists in Southern California. Stan enjoys playing a variety of styles from soloing with a Symphony Orchestra to playing Lead with Big Bands.

He has performed, among others, with the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, Steve Allen Band, Lawrence Welk Orchestra, Al Martino and the infamous Los Angeles Raiders Band.

He also enjoys playing Broadway shows and has played over 60 major Broadway productions. Stan is one of the founding members of the Canyon Brass, a Brass Quintet that is often performing in Churches, social engagements and charitable events.
