Kyla Moscovich, 14, began studying the trumpet at age 9 with Bill Dunn, a former student of Vincent Penzarella.   Kyla started to work periodically with Mr. Penzarella at age 10 and now studies with him regularly through Manhattan School of Music’s Pre-College Division where she has just completed her second year. She also studies solfeggio with pianist and teacher Michiyo Morikawa, who has accompanied her on numerous occasions.

Kyla recently won first place in the 2006 National Trumpet Competition’s Middle School Division and third place in the 2006 International Trumpet Guild Youth Competition.  In addition to her classical trumpet studies, Kyla enjoys playing jazz, singing, dancing, musical theatre, and sports as well as spending time with her family, friends, and beloved dog Satchmo.
