Erin Yanacek

|
Erin Yanacek is an incoming freshman at Western Michigan University. She will study with Scott Thornburg, and plans to pursue a double major in Music Education and Music Performance, with a minor in Psychology.
She led a busy high school career, serving as Dow High drum major, teaching 15 trumpet students, and soloing with the Midland Chemical City Band.
Erin has also been a featured soloist with her high school symphonic band, symphony orchestra, and jazz band.
She has enjoyed playing in many pit orchestras, and was one of the 12 Michigan Youth Arts Festival finalists this year (2007).

She ran Cross Country and Track, and is also learning to play the piano, saxophone, baritone, drum set, violin, and to sing.
Her hard work has been acknowledged with scholarships, including an award from the Detroit News as one of the 26 Best and Brightest Michigan high school students.
Her repertoire includes Arban’s “Carnival of Venice,” “A Trumpeters Lullaby,” the Arutunian trumpet concerto, and the Kennan Sonata.
Erin plays a Stomvi Bb Elite, and loves its versatility and crisp tone.
